New Features and Enhancements

This release includes improvements to the GlobalMeet mobile apps.

  • Mobile apps now feature profile pictures. If you upload a  profile picture using the desktop app, your profile picture now displays when joining a meeting using the recent meeting list and when searching for a meeting. All meeting participants will also see your picture in the participant list, active talker view, screen share control panel, and group chat.

    Note: You cannot upload a profile picture using the mobile app.

  • Android. The recent meetings list now shows the root URL of meetings you've attended to prevent confusion if the meeting room name happens to be the same.
  • Screen share is now available on iOS (and Android). View screen share on your iOS device while on the go. Follow along as the presenter browses websites, conducts demos, or shows files from their computer. See exactly what all other participants are seeing:
    • Tap to view full-screen.
    • Rotate your device for a larger, landscape display.
    • Pinch to zoom in and out on the shared screen.

Note: You cannot host screen share from your iOS device.

Bug Fixes

This release addresses issues seen with the Android mobile app.

  • Back button when editing the display name on the Settings screen not working.
  • Join a meeting issues.
    • Clicking on a meeting URL from the calendar or other phone applications did not join a meeting properly.
    • Searching for a meeting not optimized. Audio only rooms are now excluded from search results and search identifies the first word to first name and second word to the last name to improve results.

This release addresses issues seen with the Android mobile app.

  • Audio. After connecting audio, then selecting "Do not connect my audio", you are unable to reconnect audio.

Announcing Dutch, French, and German Language Support

GlobalMeet for Android and iOS now support English, French, German, and Dutch.

If your device language is English, French, German, or Dutch, the GlobalMeet mobile apps display in that language. When you start or join a meeting, the meeting room is in that language.

For Android smartphones, if your language is set to any language other than the above, English is used by default. For iOS devices, if the current language is unsupported, GlobalMeet will select the language based on your preferred language order. If any of the preferred languages are supported, the app uses the first supported language; otherwise, it defaults to English.

  • GlobalMeet now supports using Bluetooth headsets with VoIP.

    Note: GlobalMeet for iOS already supports Bluetooth headsets with VoIP.

Bug Fixes

This release addresses issues seen with the Android mobile app.

  • Audio. Changes were made to fix issues with dropped audio.
    • The participant panel continued to display participants after they dropped and reconnected causing duplicates.
    • Audio dropped if the device went to sleep for an extended duration.
  • Chat.
    • Messages with apostrophes caused the apostrophe to appear in HTML when received.
    • Leaving chat caused the meeting controls to disappear.

New Features and Enhancements

This release includes improvements to the GlobalMeet mobile apps.

  • Joining a meeting from a mobile device redirects you to the GlobalMeet mobile apps. When you open a meeting URL on an Android smartphone or iPhone device, GlobalMeet opens the mobile app (if installed) or prompts you to download the mobile apps.
  • Exit loading screens. Click X to cancel starting or joining a meeting when the screen takes too long to load.
  • Connect Audio > visual indicator updates:
    • When entering a meeting, participants connecting to VoIP or dial-out audio now see a loading spinner for the Mute button in the meeting toolbar.
    • When using a dial-out connection upon entering a meeting or changing the audio, the Participant panel displays a loading spinner and grays out the user's row until the audio connection completes. If the connection fails or times out, the spinner stops and the text remains grayed out. If the connection succeeds, the spinner stops and the text displays in black.
    • After connecting audio, the mic icon in the meeting toolbar displays in green for dial-out and blue for VoIP connections.
  • Android. Group Chat. Meeting participants can now send and receive messages within the meeting room. Now ifthe host is presenting and you would like to ask a question without interrupting - simply send your question to the group using chat and the host can answer it when they have finished their thought.
  • Android. Meeting room now implemented as a service instead of an activity to prevent out of memory issues.
  • iOS. Dial-in and dial-out screens contain a Back button.

Bug Fixes

This release addresses issues seen with the Android mobile app:

  • App issues:
    • The application became unresponsive if the user killed the app during the Location Overview screen.
    • The Help and Skip icons were displaced when an invalid meeting URL was entered.
    • Improved display of weather on Home screen.
  • Meeting room issues:
    • The dial-out screen does not display when you disconnect your phone's dialer.
    • The Participant panel does not display users in order of joining the meeting.
    • The most recently dialed number was not displayed at the top of the Previous numbers list.
    • Screen share not updating properly and the active talker screen remained on the screen when a host/presenter was sharing.
    • If the host dismissed all guests, dial-in users who re-entered the room displayed multiple times in the Participant panel.
