Outlook Add-In Release Notes

There are two versions of the Outlook integration: an Outlook add-in (called the Outlook add-in) and an older COM add-in version for Outlook 2010 and newer (called the Outlook toolbar 11.7).

Bug fix. On Mac, the older sign-in process was still used. With this fix, on Mac:

  • The add-in now uses the same sign-in process as the meeting room and desktop apps.
  • GlobalMeet Tools > Settings > Meeting Settings. now opens Meeting Settings in a separate window. This is the same version that is available from the desktop apps.

To get the updated sign-in process, Mac users have to uninstall and then reinstall the add-in. After reinstalling the add-in, navigate to Accounts and sign in to your account. For detailed instructions, see Update the GlobalMeet Outlook add-in.

  • The add-in now uses the same sign-in process as the meeting room and desktop apps.

    Known issue: On Mac, the previous sign-in panel is displayed. You can still sign in to your GlobalMeet account on the Mac.

  • GlobalMeet Tools > Settings > Meeting Settings. Windows and web versions of the add-in now open Meeting Settings in a separate window. This is the same version that is available from the desktop apps.

    Mac users. Until the sign-in issue is resolved, Meeting Settings is displayed in the Outlook reading pane.

  • Installation instructions in Set up GlobalMeet for Outlook have been simplified and updated. They also address the newer version of Outlook for the web (previously called OWA).

Release 13.1 (add-in)

  • Phone numbers (access numbers) associated with your account now refresh weekly to ensure the most current set of numbers is included in meeting invitations. The refresh happens automatically when you use the GlobalMeet add-in pane: either Start or Schedule a meeting or use one of the GlobalMeet Tools options. Previously, you had to open Settings and click Refresh List.
  • GlobalMeet Tools > Accounts:
    • The sign in page now includes information about the GlobalMeet add-in and its features.
    • A new option lets you sign out of your GlobalMeet account. In the Accounts list, click to select the account, and then click Sign out of selected account. Previously, this option was labeled Remove selected account.

      If you have multiple accounts and sign out of one, the top account in the updated list becomes active. 

    • Removed the Live Chat and Support Site options. Need help with the GlobalMeet add-in? Contact Support!

  • Start Webinar and Schedule Webinar buttons are no longer available; they applied to a previous version of our webinar service.
  • Japanese translation updates to meeting invitations.
  • Meeting invitations. Updated the support link at the bottom of meeting invitations. It now points to this support site.

Release 13.0 (add-in)

The Outlook add-in has been updated to match the current look and feel. Highlights:

  • Start My Meeting is no longer a drop-down with an option for webinar.
  • Settings menu. Removed the File Library option and renamed Community to Support Site.

Due to Outlook caching, you may need to uninstall and then reinstall the add-in to see the updated version. After reinstalling the add-in, navigate to Accounts and sign in to your account. For detailed instructions, see Update the GlobalMeet Outlook add-in.

This release adds room system connection details to meeting invitations, in support of GlobalMeet VRC.

  • GlobalMeet Outlook add-in. The GlobalMeet Tools menu now includes a link to the Support Site. Previously, it linked to the GlobalMeet Community, a forum that has been collapsed into the new Support Site.

    Due to Outlook caching, you need to uninstall and then reinstall the add-in to see the updated version. After reinstalling the add-in, navigate to Accounts and sign in to your account. For detailed instructions, see Update the GlobalMeet Outlook add-in.

  • GlobalMeet toolbar (Windows only). A new "toolbar-only" installer is available from the Downloads page.
    • It is designed for GlobalMeet 5 meeting hosts who need the 11.7 version of GlobalMeet for Outlook. Previously, these users had to install the full GlobalMeet 4 Desktop Tools to obtain the GlobalMeet toolbar.
    • If you previously installed the GlobalMeet 4 Desktop Tools, you can uninstall them in the Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Remove the apps individually (GlobalMeet for Desktop, Screen Share, VoIP Audio for Meetings, and GlobalMeet toolbar), or choose GlobalMeet Desktop Tools to remove all apps.
    • Go to our Downloads page and scroll to the bottom to get the installer. After installing the toolbar, you will be prompted to sign in when you open Outlook; otherwise, navigate to Accounts and sign in to your account.

    • For IT admins: the GlobalMeet toolbar installer also features a silent mode for managed deployment. For instructions on deploying the GlobalMeet toolbar to your users, see the GlobalMeet Deployment Guide.

Release 12.5 (add-in)

Released: April 27, 2018

This release updates the Outlook add-in to reflect the new GlobalMeet logo and tool icons.

The updated logo replaces the previous GlobalMeet logo on the Outlook ribbon, new emails, meeting invitations, starting a meeting, and the task panes.

Due to Outlook caching, you need to uninstall and then reinstall the add-in to use the new version. After reinstalling the add-in, navigate to Accounts and sign in to your account. For detailed instructions, see Update the GlobalMeet Outlook add-in.

Release 12.4 (add-in)

Released: February 16, 2018

This release addresses an issue with Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac 15.40 and newer, where the GlobalMeet task pane displayed a 404 Page Not Found error (listed in version 12.3 release notes as a Known Issue).

The issue should be resolved in the background when you open Outlook 2016 for Mac. There might be a short delay while the GlobalMeet add-in downloads new files.
