Transfer a call

There are two types of phone transfers: blind and attended (consultative). Use a blind transfer to save time or an attended transfer to speak to the person receiving the call transfer prior to transferring the call.

On the desktop app

To transfer a call:

  1. On the Current call panel, click Transfer.

  2. Either:
    • Dial an extension or phone number and click Transfer to this number.
    • Enter a name and select the contact from your company directory.
  3. Select your transfer type:
    • Ask first, click Complete Transfer after speaking with your contact.
    • Transfer directly, the call is transferred immediately.
  4. Click Start call to initiate the transfer.

To cancel a transfer in progress:

You can cancel the transfer by:

  • Click X to close the Transfer panel or Cancel when selecting your transfer type.
  • If you selected Ask First, end the new call. The call is not transferred and you can click Resume to return the call on hold to being the active call.

    Note: You cannot cancel a call that is transferred directly.

Polycom

To transfer a call:

  1. On your phone, tap or press Transfer to use the default transfer type. Or tap or press and hold Transfer to use the non-default transfer type.

    Transfer might be a button, an option on the touch screen, or a soft key by the LCD screen.

  2. If using the non-default transfer type, tap or press More, and then tap or press Blind or Consultative.
  3. Complete one of the following:
    • Dial a number.
    • Select a contact from the call lists or directory instead of entering a number.
  4. If the transfer type is set to:
    • Blind, the call is transferred immediately.
    • Consultative, tap or press Transfer after speaking with your contact.

To cancel a transfer in progress:

On your phone, tap or press Cancel. The call is not transferred and returns to being the active call.

Yealink

To transfer a call:

  1. On your phone, select Transfer during a call.

    Transfer might be a button or a soft key by the LCD screen.

  2. Complete one of the following:
    • Dial a number.
    • Select a contact from the placed call list instead of entering a number.
    • Select a contact using speed dial.
    • Select Directory and select the desired contact.
  3. To perform the transfer, press:
    • B Transfer to instantly transfer the call or Send and then Transfer before the person answers to complete a blind transfer.
    • Transfer after the person answers the call to finish an attended transfer.

To cancel a transfer in progress:

On your phone, press Cancel or the X key. The call is not transferred and you can press Resume to return the call on hold to being the active call.
