Answer another call (call waiting)

When you are on the phone, call waiting notifies you of an incoming call and lets you decide whether to answer the second call. When you answer the new call, the first call is placed on hold. You can also send the incoming call to voicemail.

You can switch between calls, resuming one call and placing the other on hold.

Desktop app

When you're on a call and a second call comes in, the app rings and displays incoming caller information on your screen. You can answer and disconnect the first call, answer and place the first call on hold, or send the new call to voicemail. On the notification message, just click the Answer, Answer and Hold, or Ignore button. 

To answer the incoming call:

On the incoming call message, click either:

  • Answer to pick up and disconnect the first call. The first call is disconnected.

  • Answer and Hold to pick up and place the first call on hold. The incoming call becomes active.

To switch back to the original call:

  1. In the Calls list, click the call on hold.

    The Active call panel switches to the selected call. It is still on hold.

  2. Click Resume. The second call is placed on hold, and the first call becomes active again.

Polycom

When you are on a call and a new call comes in, the call waiting tone beeps, and the incoming call information is displayed.

To answer the incoming call:

  1. On the incoming call screen, tap or press Answer.

    The first call is placed on hold, and the incoming call becomes active.

  2. If you don’t answer the call within 10 seconds, the screen switches to a calls list with your active call and the incoming call. To answer the new call, select it in the list and tap or press Answer.

To send the call to voicemail:

  1. On the incoming call screen, tap or press Reject.

    The incoming call is sent to voicemail. You can continue with your current call.

  2. If you don’t answer the call within 10 seconds, the screen switches to a calls list. To dismiss the new call, select it in the list and then tap or press Reject.

To switch back to the original call:

On your phone, in the calls list, select the call on hold and tap or press Resume. The second call is placed on hold, and the first call becomes active again.

Yealink

When you are on a call and a new call comes in, the call waiting tone beeps, and the incoming call information is displayed.

To answer the incoming call:

By the LCD screen, press Answer. The active call is placed on hold, and the incoming call becomes active.

To send the call to voicemail:

By the LCD screen, press Reject or the X key. The incoming call is sent to voicemail. You can continue with your current call.

To switch back to the original call:

By the LCD screen, press Swap to switch between calls. The second call is placed on hold, and the first call becomes active again.

If your phone is set up for multiple lines, you can also press the line key for the call on hold and press Resume
