Release 5.22

New Features and Enhancements

The test checks your browser, audio and video devices, and network connections. It highlights any compatibility issues that it finds.

Bug Fixes

This release addresses issues seen while in the meeting and while using the desktop apps.

Meeting issues

    • View profile for the guest.
  • Chrome and IE. If you reduce the size of the browser window before joining the meeting, the active talker bar does not display the speaker's name correctly.
  • Recording. The audio notification that the meeting is being recorded is not played.
  • End of meeting feedback issue:
    • When providing feedback on issues encountered, it's possible to click Submit multiple times, which sends duplicate feedback to Support.
    • Updated Japanese translations for reporting a webcam issue.

Desktop app issues

When the host joins, music is turned off automatically, and everyone is unmuted. Guests who joined after the host were shown incorrectly as muted.
  • Screen share. If the host or promoted guest (presenter) joins via the desktop app and screen shares, then another presenter cannot screen share. The first screen share session is ended, but the second person's screen share does not start.
  • Webcam. Stopping host webcam also ends guest webcams. While in screen share mode, if the host or presenter switches to webcam mode and they both share webcam, when the host stops sharing webcam, all video streams are closed.
  • Settings (gear button) issues:
    • Webcam preview. If you are already sharing webcam and open Settings, now the webcam preview message, "Your video is not showing in meeting yet," is only displayed when you select a different webcam source.
    • In screen share mode, if you select Turn webcam on, the Settings panel is dismissed without explanation. Now, the following message is displayed:

Desktop app issues

  • Recent meetings list is not updating properly after joining a meeting room.
  • Meetings tab > Guest notifications:
    • Guests in your room notification is not displayed when a guest enters the meeting room.
    • Sometimes the number of guests waiting message is inaccurate.
  • Settings tab issues:
    • If there is an error in one field (for example, you enter an invalid email address), your changes to other fields are not saved.
    • Account. Name fields not updating correctly. Change your first name, press Tab and then change your last name. Your update to last name is "lost" while the app saves the first name.
  • Translation fixes.
  • Windows. When you enter a meeting URL in a browser, the desktop app opens automatically as expected, but the meeting room is not opened.
  • Mac issues:
    • Command+Q does not close the app.
    • Some users reported seeing a white screen when reopening the app after their Mac was sleeping.
    • Settings tab. The GlobalMeet desktop app still opens on startup even after you set Launch at startup to off.
  • Help & Support > Email a support agent. Unable to send long email messages to Support; the Send button disappears.

  • Meeting panel. When someone joins using a VoIP phone (for example, a Dolby Conference Phone), the person’s first and last name is shown in the Meeting panel, if available.
  • Share meeting info. New help text explains that you can copy meeting info to the clipboard and then paste the information into an email or chat to quickly invite another guest.
  • Webcam preview. New help text explains that the preview is not shown to the room.
  • Active talker now highlights multiple participants when several people are speaking at one time:
    • In the Meeting panel, the animated icon is displayed next to each person speaking.
    • In Audio & Webcam mode, the video stream of each person speaking is outlined.

Desktop app

  • Profile photo or avatar. You can now personalize your desktop experience by uploading a photo. Learn more.
  • UI improvements to the app startup screens.
  • In any text field, right-click to open a menu of options. This allows you to paste URLs or other copied information from the clipboard. Show me.

Bug Fixes

This release addresses issues seen while in the meeting and while using the desktop app.

Meeting issues

  • Active talker. When Dolby Conference Phone participant speaks, the animated icon is green (indicating a telephone connection) rather than blue for VoIP audio.
  • Join meeting issues:
    • Guests can join a meeting room that has been set to inactive (due to billing or other admin reasons).
    • If joining as a guest, the room doesn't load correctly if you enter HTML characters in the first or last name fields.
  • Connecting VoIP message remains on-screen after voice prompt confirms that audio connected successfully.
  • Name of the active talker at the top of screen is cut off when a meeting window is resized below a certain width.
  • If a browser participant refreshes the browser window, his or her name is listed two times in the Meeting panel.
  • Screen share issues:
    • Switching to screen share from webcam sometimes does not start screen share.
    • Sometimes the shared screen is appears very small or thumbnail-sized on viewers' screens.
    • IE 11. Screen share freezes if a presenter closes IE or refreshes (F5) while screen sharing.
    • Chrome on Windows. Intermittently, guest sees the bar with "Name's Screen" at top of stage, but the content being shared is not shown.
  • Internet Explorer 11. Clicking X to exit an alert or dialog does not close it. Workaround: In most cases, pressing Esc dismisses the dialog.

Desktop app issues

  • Join Meeting issues:
    • The app displays an “invalid URL” error for meeting URLs that start with http:// instead of https://.
    • Join Meeting > Search. When you enter a first or last name, results don't always include all rooms.
  • If the desktop app is installed but you are not signed in, and you join a meeting from the browser, the desktop app launches that meeting when you later sign in to the app (even a day later).
  • Check for updates sometimes fails on older versions of the app (5.0).
  • If the login screen is left open more than 2 hours and you try to sign in, a server error is displayed briefly.
  • On alert dialogs, longer titles are not displayed completely.

    • Host cannot turn off webcam when there are no other guests in the room.
    • Participant webcams are turned off when host leaves the meeting (but doesn't end meeting, disconnecting all guests).

    • Mac desktop. A guest who shared their screen as a promoted presenter cannot toggle their webcam after they are demoted to guest role again.
  • Long guest names extend past the edge of the Meeting panel and overlap the meeting stage.
  • Connect Audio > Call my computer. A more descriptive error message - “Your microphone is already being used” - is now displayed. Previously, the error message was "NotReadable error."
  • Participant list was not updating during a meeting.
  • Chat. If you click a link from the Chat panel, it opens in the desktop app rather than a browser window as expected.
  • Screen share content sometimes appears in Audio & Webcam view.
  • Chrome. Feedback panel was overlapping the Network Error panel upon re-entering a meeting.

Desktop app issues

  • Join Meeting. The full meeting URL is not displayed correctly.

  • Start My Meeting opens a Contact Support window instead of launching your meeting.

Outlook Add-in Updates

This release addresses an issue with Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac 15.40 and newer, where the GlobalMeet task pane displayed a 404 Page Not Found error (listed in version 12.3 release notes as a Known Issue).

The issue should be resolved in the background when you open Outlook 2016 for Mac. There might be a short delay while the GlobalMeet add-in downloads new files.
