April 18 - Meeting room

Release 5.31

multitask-states.png

Do More with the Multi-Task Widget

During a meeting, you might place yourself on mute and minimize the room to work on another task. But the time it takes to navigate back to the meeting and unmute your audio could cause you to miss your opportunity to make a comment or cause a delay in answering a question when you're asked. With the new Multi-Task Widget, you can always see the current active talker, quickly mute and unmute your audio, and easily jump back into the meeting room as needed. You can freely move the widget to wherever you want, across your screen or even to a different monitor, and it always stays in focus even as you do other tasks.

Note: The Multi-Task Widget is available to participants who use the desktop app to join the meeting. Get the desktop app from the GlobalMeet Download Center.

New Features and Enhancements

This release includes improvements to the meeting experience and ongoing development work to prepare for Office 365 integration to bring calendar awareness and streamlined recording options to your meeting room. This feature is tentatively scheduled for May 2019.

Release 5.27

Announcing File Presentation

FP-panel-share.png

Now you can share Adobe PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets in your meeting. Everyone can see the file you present, including VRC and mobile users. Presenting a file makes it easier for you to manage your participants, respond to chats, and take a glance at your presenter notes while presenting on a single monitor as compared to screen share.

Note: If you need to share a non-supported file type, open it on your computer and share your screen.

Note: Meeting recordings do not show in your file library. To view your meeting recordings, use the desktop app.

  • To start sharing, click the share button in the meeting controls and select File Presentation.

    FP-panel-share.png

    • Hosts and presenters can view slide notes by expanding the right sidebar. Slide notes are plain text and not visible to guests.
    • Slide transitions, animations, and embedded audio/video are not supported.
  • Your uploaded files stay with you - not the meeting room. Access your file library and present files in another person's meeting room; just be signed in and promoted to presenter.

January 10 - Meeting room, January 16 - Desktop app

Release 5.24

New Features and Enhancements

This release includes ongoing development work to prepare for remote desktop control and the ability to upload and present files during the meeting. These features are tentatively scheduled for February 2019.

There are no new features or enhancements in this release.

Bug Fixes

This release addresses issues seen while in the meeting.

Meeting issues

  • Locked meeting and VoIP audio. If a guest's network disconnects during a locked meeting, that guest cannot connect to VoIP audio even after being able to reenter the meeting.
  • System Test. Connection quality and audio output tests are run for incompatible browsers (for example, Safari and Edge), resulting in confusing error messages. These tests are now skipped for incompatible browsers.
  • Japanese. Internet Explorer > Invite by phone. If a host uses Invite by phone to call a guest, but does not enter the guest's name, a blank guest row is shown while the call is connecting. When the guest answers, a row with the guest's phone number is added to the bottom of the list. Fixed. Now the phone number being called is shown.

Desktop app issues

  • Profile image issues. If you use the desktop app to delete your profile image while in a meeting, it is still displayed in the meeting room.
  • App doesn't launch automatically from Chrome. If you paste a meeting URL into Chrome, the meeting does not launch even though the browser notifies you that you are meeting using the app.
  • Log in. You may encounter a 404 page when attempting to log in to the app.

Known issues

Windows 7/IE11 users can't install the desktop app from the GlobalMeet Download Center.

On Internet Explorer 11 and Windows 7 only, when you click Download for Windows on the GlobalMeet Download Center, the installer is downloaded, but the file name is GlobalMeet-Setup.##### (a series of numbers) instead of EXE as expected. This makes the installer unusable.

Workarounds:

  • When prompted by IE, save the desktop installer instead of running it. Use Window Explorer to navigate to the downloaded installer on your computer, replace the numbers in the file extension with .exe, and then and double-click to install the desktop app.
  • Use a different browser to install the desktop app from the GlobalMeet Download Center.
